Trusting in the God of Hope

In Prayer by Jennifer Jones233 Comments

We’ve all experienced the shadow of death in our lives.  However, even our darkest hours are nothing compared to the crisis that Japan is currently facing.  Think about it. Your life is spared, but you have lost family, home, job, health and well being.  Even in my darkest hour, I have never faced anything like what many people in Japan are facing.   Where is hope?  Where is God in the midst of all of this?  I look at the photos of the current disaster in the newspaper or on the Internet.  I see the pained faces, blank sad stares, and raw hopelessness.   Tears fall.  Prayers are spoken. Money is given. Understanding is absent.  Then I remember, God holds all the “whys” of our lives in the palms of His hands.  God is the hope for Japan.  God is the hope and the strength of  life.  When lifes circumstances don’t make sense we can trust in the God of Hope.  Psalms 28:7 states, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.” Our lives on Earth have little hope. Our days are as a vapor. Our hope rests in God alone.  Our hope anchors in the confidence of spending eternity with Jesus in Heaven.   As the Apostle Paul wrote in 1Cor. 15:19, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

Titus 2:13 states, “Looking for that blessed hope,  and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

I continue to pray for the souls and the Nation of Japan. I pray that the mighty hand of God will stop the earth tremors and the nuclear crisis.  Above all, I pray that Japan’s victims will find Jesus, the God of Hope.
