Living in April

The sound of heavy rain my window pane reminds me that April is almost here. Rain is one of those things that you can either love it, hate it or it can make you go to sleep. However you feel, April and it’s plethora of showers are unavoidable. We all must pass into it.

Just like the seasons of the year, we go through seasons in life. There are days when the sun shines and there are days when the rain falls. The problem is, sometimes we can’t see past the rain. We ask God, why am I hurting? Why did this happen to me? Why am I here? But we don’t have to understand the rain to know God will bring the sun out.

“April showers bring May flowers”, is not something we really think about until we’re in May. However, if we can start to remember that in our “April”, it would save us a lot of worry. Always remember that God has a purpose and plan for your life. As the rain falls, we can know that God is getting us ready to make something beautiful and new in us.

A friend who is going through a recent “April”, Facebooked me and asked me for some words of encouragement. I didn’t really know what to say so I Googled, “scriptures on encouragement.” It’s an elementary thought but it worked! I found this, Romans 8:18, “…the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

God has so many great things in store for us that we can not even try to compare it’s value to the storms of life. We can’t say, “This isn’t worth it. I can’t live for God!”…when you can’t even fathom what He has for us. It’s the rain that purifies and washes us. Sometimes it even exposes us. Without the rain there’d be no flowers and May would come, but not as God planned it to be. Don’t run from the rain but live in April, knowing that it’s getting you ready for life in May.
